A society is a group of people involved in the continuous social interaction, or a large social grouping sharing of same geographical or social area, in general, subject to the same political authority and expectations of dominant cultural. Societies are characterized by patterns of relationships (social relations) between individuals who share a distinctive culture and institutions; A given society can be described as the total of such relations between its constituent members. In the social sciences, a large society often subgroups in stratification or dominance patterns.

Insofar as it is a collaborative, a society can enable its members to make the way in a way that would not be otherwise possible on individual basis; Both individual and social (common) benefits are thus distinguished, or in many cases found overlap. A society can also be like a minded people governed by their own standards and values within a dominant, larger society. This is sometimes referred to as a subculture, a term used extensively within the criminology.
